Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Locum Tenens

Location: WI


Position Overview

A hospital in WI is seeking a skilled and experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) for a locum tenens assignment from July through September 2026. This role is fully independent, offering a high level of autonomy in a CRNA-only practice environment with a consistent bread-and-butter surgical case mix and OB coverage responsibilities while on call.


Responsibilities

  • Provide independent anesthesia care in a small OR setting with 2 3 rooms, typically 1 2 running daily
    • Function as a fully autonomous CRNA responsible for pre-operative evaluation, intraoperative anesthesia management, and post-operative anesthesia care
    • Manage a broad case mix including general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, GI/endoscopy, ENT, urology, and podiatry
    Provide OB anesthesia coverage while on call, including labor epidurals, emergent cesarean sections, and obstetric anesthesia support as needed
    • Independently administer and manage general, regional, and sedation anesthesia techniques
    • Perform airway management, vascular access, hemodynamic monitoring, and critical intraoperative interventions
    • Assess and respond to changes in patient status throughout the perioperative period, adjusting anesthetic plans accordingly
    • Collaborate with surgeons, OB providers, and perioperative staff to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care
    • Maintain accurate and timely anesthesia documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
    • Ensure anesthesia equipment is properly checked, stocked, and maintained according to safety protocols
    • Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and support safe anesthesia practices


Practice Model

  • Independent CRNA-only practice with high clinical autonomy
    • Typically 1 2 CRNAs covering daily cases
    • No routine MDA supervision onsite
    • Bread-and-butter surgical cases only (no cardiac or major neuro cases)
    • OB call coverage is required when scheduled on call


Qualifications

  • Current CRNA certification and active (or eligible) Wisconsin licensure
    • Minimum of 2 years clinical anesthesia experience preferred
    • Strong proficiency in general, regional, and OB anesthesia
    • Ability to function independently in a fast-paced, rural hospital setting
    • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
