A community-based hospital in North Carolina is seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon to provide locum tenens coverage. This opportunity offers a balanced mix of clinic, operating room, inpatient responsibilities, and call coverage with potential for ongoing PRN needs.
Coverage Dates Available
(Providers do not need to be available for all dates)
- November 4 at 7:00 AM November 9 at 3:00 PM
- November 15 at 7:00 AM November 18 at 7:00 AM
- December 30 at 7:00 AM January 4 at 7:00 AM
Additional PRN coverage opportunities may be available beyond these dates.
Practice Details
- Mix of inpatient, outpatient, and call coverage
- Solo call coverage (1:1)
- Includes nights and weekends
- Average clinic volume: 25 patients/day
- Surgical volume: up to 8 elective cases/day
- Average inpatient census: 2
- Average admissions: 1/day
- May include ICU/Critical Care responsibilities
- Coverage includes ED consults and procedures while on call
- EMR: EPIC
Common Procedures
- Upper & lower endoscopy/scopes
- Cholecystectomy
- Appendectomy
- Food bolus management
- Bowel obstruction treatment
- Hernia repair
Requirements
- Board-Certified General Surgeon
- Preference for 5+ years of post-training experience
- BLS required
- ACLS + PALS required only if pursuing conscious sedation privileges
- Orientation required the day prior to first scheduled shift
