I am currently working on an ongoing Gastroenterology locum tenens opportunity, and I wanted to reach out to see if you may have interest. An active state license or eligibility through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) is accepted for this assignment.
This is a hospital-based Gastroenterology/Hospitalist-style role supporting inpatient GI coverage due to a provider retirement. The need is ongoing and offers the potential for permanent employment for providers who are a strong fit.
Position Overview:
• Start Date: August 2026
• Assignment Length: Ongoing
• Coverage Type: Inpatient Gastroenterology
• Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
• No nights, weekends, or call responsibilities
• Minimum commitment of 14 shifts per month
• Eight guaranteed hours per shift
• Overtime applies after 40 hours worked per week
• Epic EMR
Ideal Candidate:
• Board Certified in Gastroenterology
• Gastroenterology Fellowship completed
• Active state license or IMLC eligibility accepted
• Active DEA registration
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to obtain full hospital privileges (temporary privileges are not available)
Clinical Responsibilities:
• Inpatient GI consultations and management
• Upper GI endoscopy with biopsy
• Foreign body removal procedures when indicated
• Diagnostic esophageal dilation
• Esophageal manometry interpretation
• Small bowel biopsy
• Lower GI endoscopy, including sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy with biopsy and polyp excision
• Inpatient rounding and procedural coverage
Additional Opportunity:
• Providers interested in outpatient GI procedures may also be considered for additional procedural coverage. Please indicate your interest when responding.
Practice Support:
• Collaborative care environment with physician and APP support
• Dedicated RN, MA, and administrative staff
• Stroke-certified hospital setting
• Trauma Level II facility
Scheduling Notes:
• Full-time coverage needed until a permanent provider is hired
• Minimum availability of two weeks per month preferred
• A 2-weeks-on/2-weeks-off rotation may be considered if multiple providers are secured
