Job description

Job Description: Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM/FP/IM)

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Position Type: Physician (Contract/Coverage)
Start Date: As soon as credentialed

Position Overview

PresNow is seeking a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine with EM experience) to join our team in Albuquerque. This position offers a unique practice environment in a modern facility that prioritizes efficiency, provider wellness, and high-quality walk-in care.

Facility & Practice Highlights

operates as a hybrid Emergency Department and Urgent Care model. Unlike traditional high-volume hospital EDs, we do not receive ambulances, allowing for a more controlled environment while still managing high-acuity walk-in cases.

  • Clinical Environment: 14-bed Emergency Department plus a 4-room/chair Fast Track.
  • Support Staff: Robust coverage with 5 6 Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) on-site daily.
  • Trauma Capabilities: Two dedicated trauma rooms for walk-in emergencies (e.g., GSWs, stabbings, and acute medical traumas).
  • Behavioral Health: We do not hold psych patients for 72 hours. Our workflow involves medical clearance and rapid transfer to Kaseman ED (our system s dedicated Psych ED), significantly reducing ED boarding.
  • Documentation Support: Providers utilize the DAX AI Scribe to streamline charting and reduce administrative burden.
Shift & Schedule Details
  • Shift Times: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM 7:00 AM).
  • On-Call: No call requirements.
  • Staff Mix: Two-physician coverage per 24 hours.
  • Work-Life Balance: Our workflow is designed to allow providers to finish charts on time. In the Main ED, providers typically stop seeing new patients one hour before the shift ends; in Quick Triage (QT), providers stop minutes before the end of the shift.
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality emergency medical care to a diverse patient population of walk-in arrivals.
  • Perform Medical Screening Exams (MSE) as needed (flexible 12-hour provider coverage for MSE when fully staffed).
  • Manage acute cases including medical emergencies and stabilize walk-in traumas.
  • Supervise and collaborate with a team of 5 6 APCs.
  • Utilize Epic and DAX AI Scribes for efficient and accurate documentation.
Requirements
  • Board Certification: ABEM, Family Medicine (FP), or Internal Medicine (IM).
  • Experience: Previous experience in an Emergency Medicine setting required.
  • Licensure: Active New Mexico Medical License (or willingness to obtain).
  • Skill Set: Ability to manage high-acuity walk-ins and lead a team of mid-level providers.
