Job description

Coverage Needed

  • Start Date: 08/03/2026
  • End Date: 11/02/2026
  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts; primarily Monday-Thursday overnight coverage with some weekend opportunities
    • Secondary options include 24-hour shifts and limited weekend coverage
  • Shifts Per Month: 5-10

Clinical Details

  • Practice Settings: Inpatient clinical care within a faculty practice plan
  • Support Staff: One generalist OB/GYN attending physician and one OB/GYN resident are in-house overnight in addition to hospitalist (locums)
    • Collaboration with nursing staff, anesthesia, neonatology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and subspecialty consultants
    • MIGS and Gynecologic Oncology services cover their own patients overnight and on weekends from home
    • Gynecologic backup support available for complex surgical cases
    • Supervision and teaching of in-house OB/GYN residents; teaching and precepting residents, fellows, and medical students
  • Management of laboring patients, obstetrical triage, postpartum care, gynecologic emergencies
  • Coverage of the Obstetric service during evenings, nights, and weekends
  • Performance of obstetrical and gynecologic procedures as clinically indicated
  • Participation in emergency cesarean deliveries and urgent gynecologic surgical care

Requirements

  • Board: Board Eligible or Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology by ABOG
  • Licenses: Eligible for or currently holding a Connecticut Medical License
  • Experience: Experience supervising residents and managing high-acuity obstetrical patients preferred
