Cardiothoracic Surgeon (Board Certified/Board Eligible) Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Board Certified or Board Eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeons to provide comprehensive on-site cardiothoracic surgical services at a federal healthcare facility in the Caribbean region. The selected physicians will support a broad range of inpatient, outpatient, emergency, operative, and post-operative cardiothoracic care services for an adult patient population.
This opportunity offers long-term engagement under a multi-year contract vehicle and requires physicians with current, hands-on experience in cardiothoracic surgery and open-heart surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The Cardiothoracic Surgeon will be responsible for providing clinical and surgical services, including but not limited to:
- Evaluation and management of patients in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings.
- Performance of open-heart and cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
- Pre-operative assessment and surgical planning.
- Post-operative patient management and follow-up care.
- Cardiothoracic surgery consultations, including cases where surgical intervention is not recommended.
- Emergency permanent pacemaker implantation procedures.
- Pacemaker lead extraction support and backup coverage.
- Pericardial window and pericardiectomy procedures.
- Surgical backup support for interventional cardiology and structural cardiovascular procedures.
- Participation in multidisciplinary patient care activities.
- Documentation and compliance with applicable clinical standards and policies.
- Training and education of clinical staff regarding cardiothoracic surgery procedures, policies, and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States or its territories.
- Current DEA registration, if required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of four (4) years of continuous cardiothoracic surgery experience within the last five (5) years.
- Demonstrated experience performing open-heart and complex cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
- Experience providing training, mentorship, or education to clinical staff related to cardiothoracic surgery services, policies, and procedures.
