Emergency Medicine Physician Locum Tenens needed for OH and VA Overview We are seeking board-certified/board-eligible Emergency Medicine Physicians to provide locum tenens coverage across two hospital-based emergency departments in the Ohio West Virginia region. These assignments offer flexible block scheduling, strong clinical support, and exposure to moderate-to-high acuity emergency medicine environments.
Facility Locations - Holzer Health System (Ohio sites)
- Includes regional ED coverage in southeastern Ohio
- Community hospital setting with steady patient volume and broad case mix
- St. Mary s Medical Center (SMC)
- Huntington, West Virginia
- Higher-acuity regional referral center with trauma and specialty support
Shift Coverage Needs Holzer Health System - 06 21 8a 8p (Day shifts)
- 06 25 8a 8p (Day shifts)
- 06 28 8p 8a (Night shifts)
- 07 02 8a 8p (Extended day block coverage)
St. Mary s Medical Center (SMC) - 07 03 7a 7p (Day shifts)
- 07 16 7a 7p (Day shifts)
Job Responsibilities - Provide full-scope emergency department care for adult and pediatric patients (as applicable per site)
- Perform rapid assessment, diagnosis, and stabilization of acute medical and traumatic conditions
- Manage high-volume ED patient flow with varying acuity levels
- Coordinate care with hospitalists, specialists, and transfer centers when needed
- Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers where applicable
- Ensure appropriate documentation and compliance with EMR systems
Clinical Environment - Mixed acuity emergency departments (community + regional referral setting)
- Strong specialty and transfer support available at both sites
- Collaborative nursing and APP support teams
- Variable patient volume depending on site and shift type (day vs night)
Requirements - Board Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine or Internal Medicine with EM experience
- Active US medical license (or willingness to obtain in applicable states)
- DEA certification (if prescribing controlled substances required)
- Current ACLS and ATLS preferred
- Prior ED experience strongly preferred
